🎨 About Laurie Peters

I’m a UK-based artist and visual storyteller working across traditional painting, digital illustration, and printmaking. My work moves between the natural and the imagined—balancing quiet landscapes and wildlife with satirical posters, characterful designs, and playful narratives.

Whether I’m capturing the changing light along the Cornish coast or fabricating a jazz festival that never happened, my aim is the same: to create art that invites curiosity, humour, and emotional connection.

🧠 Background

My creative journey began in the 1980s at Salford Tech, continued through Art & Design at Manchester City College, and culminated with a BA from UWE Bristol in 1998. Alongside my studio practice, I’ve worked in comedy writing, television production, and digital content—influences that surface in the looser, more irreverent corners of my work.

My client list has included:
• Ricky Gervais &. Karl Pilkington
• BBC & Channel 4
• Dorling Kindersley
• Sony Music London / Warp Records
• Bo Selecta - Leigh francis
• Philip Morris International
• BP Castrol

🖼️ Practice & Process

I work fluidly across oil painting, iPad illustration, giclée printmaking, and hand-finishing techniques. Each project begins with a story, and the medium follows. I’m drawn to both the deep silence of nature and the loud, fictional chaos of invented music posters—sometimes in the same week.

🌱 Themes & Influence

My traditional work explores themes of renewal, reflection, and place. My more satirical collections channel a lifelong love of print, British absurdism, and the strange overlap between design, nostalgia, and invented memory. Each piece—humorous or contemplative—aims to transform a space and spark emotion.
